Price rise: Bhivpachi garaz asa for the common man

The saying ‘bhivpachi garaz na’ may hold good for our Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues, but for common man, surely it’s the opposite.

Look at the price of essential commodities, vegetables, petrol and now cooking gas. LPG cylinder price has been increased by Rs 50 and now costs over Rs 1000. Prices have increased to such an extent that it is impossible for the common man to survive.

The government only seems to come to the common man’s rescue during the elections by providing freebies and other sops. It has taken the common man for granted.

Nobody knows what happened to the 3 free cylinders that the BJP had promised before the Assembly elections. Now it is reported that Chief Minister’s wife Sulakshana has said that the 3 free cylinders will be given to only the needy people. What an irony.

This is extreme injustice to the people of Goa. This translates into the common Goan saying ‘kaam zalem voiz melo’. If the Chief Minister and the BJP has any sympathy for Goans they should not distinguish between the rich and the poor. Give the 3 LPG cylinders that were promised to all.

Now, the panchayat elections are round the corner. Although the minister has said the elections will not be on party lines, surely parties will put up candidates in order to control the grassroot body.

Once bitten twice shy. All political parties will come to your doorstep again seeking votes. Goans should not fall into the trap once more.

There are at least 50 odd residences down this road and most of these families own four-wheelers making it very difficult…
