ZACL holds mass community safety awareness programme

Zuari Agro Chemicals limited (ZACL) is observing 50th National Safety Week-2021 from March 4 to 10. The National Safety Week-2021 began by hoisting the safety flag inside the factory premises, at the Emergency Control Centre by ND Panandikar, General Manager“Maintenance. This was followed by the inaugural function at the Jai Kisaan auditorium.  The guests were welcome with a melodious Safety song composed by the employees. 

Nilesh Dessai, Chief Manufacturing Officer, in his welcome address, highlighted the management of Covid-19 challenge at ZACL for the safe operation of the plants. The safety week was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest, Executive Director- ZACL Nitin Kantak. The chief guest in his address stressed upon the need of the safety training of the employees and the workers for safe operation of the plants. 

Cosme Araujo, Chairman, National Safety Week Committee-2021 proposed This year, as a part of the National Safety Week-2021 . The company has initiated a special programme for Mass Community Safety Awareness. A special vehicle was flagged off by the chief guest from Jai Kisaan Bhawan, with digital audio-visual films, consisting of simple precautions to be taken in the event of ammonia gas emergency, on-site Emergency Management plan, Ammonia Terminal Emergency Management, and Covid-19 Management (dos and donts).

The special vehicle displayed the contents at Zuarinagar petrol pump area, Queeny Circle, Zuari Gate, Sancoale Industrial area, MES Juction, Dabolim Juction, Bogmalo/Chicolna area, Airport Juction, Chicalim ground and Chicalim Circle, with an intent to spread the safety awareness within the community. As a part of this awareness program, face masks were distributed to general public and pamphlets of simple precautions to be taken in the event of ammonia gas emergency were also handed out. The mass community safety awareness programme concluded at at Zuarinagr Petrol pump area.
