A group of residents have planned a ‘Chalo Valpoi’ meet on August 29 to discuss the Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill 2021.
Addressing a news conference in Valpoi, Rajesh Gaonkar said the bill is aimed at bestowing land rights to the people of Sattari taluka.
“The Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill passed by the government is in the interest of Sattari taluka. Since Liberation, there have agitations at various levels on the issue of land ownership in Sattari taluka.”
“This bill came to light after large scale protest by people of Sattari taluka on January 26. There are many land issues pending in Sattari taluka and they include the issue of Mokasa, Aframent land ownership and the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary,” said Gaonkar.
“The ‘Chalo Valpoi’ meet has been organised on August 29 to remove any confusion and to discuss the issue and we expect 1,500 Bhumiputras from different talukas to attend this meet.”
He informed that thousands of houses have been constructed in Sattari, but they have been deprived of various facilities. “The ‘Chalo Valpoi’ meet will discuss the bill in detail and a memorandum will be submitted to the government,” he added.
Ganpat Gaonkar appealed to people to keep aside their differences and to be united to facilitate the land ownership rights in Sattari taluka.
