MARGAO
Former Cuncolim MLA Joaquim Alemao on Thursday warned that people of Cuncolim constituency will not sit quiet and watch the Railways from carrying the work of double-tracking at the Chandor railway crossing on November 2.
Saying that he and son Yuri have already extended their support to the villagers of Chandor and Guirdolim opposing the double-tracking project, Joaquim said his supporters from Cuncolim constituency will all join the people of Chandor and other organisations on November 2, if the government and the Railways goes ahead with the planned work at the Chandor railway crossing.
“People are convinced that the double-tracking project is not in the interest of Goa, but for a few corporates. The government and the Railways should respect the sentiments of the people and shelve the double-tracking project,” he said.
