Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho on Monday said GoaMiles was willing to offer various schemes to taxi operators, including electrical vehicles and even housing facilities.
"GoaMiles is willing to convert around 100 taxis into electric vehicles at no additional costs and this figure could go to around 200-300. They are also willing to provide free housing while aligning with other central agencies and I also have plans of having pension scheme for taxi operators.”
“I want to tell the Yellow-Black airport taxi operators that we will keep our word and not work against their interests but they have to have trust on us and not get misguided.”
“We have also agreed to their demands of two counters but they seem to have no faith in anyone presently and I want to assure them again that we don’t want to finish them and bring GoaMiles but we want to have both taxi services so that people have a choice while we adopt new technology." said Godinho.
Godinho said since app-based taxis are present across the world and all over India, such an option should also be available at Dabolim airport.
“GoaMiles is here to stay. We are also willing to support the taxi operators if they want to get their own app and they can also have their own app-based taxi system but despite several requests for the last two years, this has not happened till date.”
“I have also directed the RTO and police to stop all touting and illegal taxi operators in the Airport so that all get good business here," said Godinho.
