‘Not against development, but safeguard Kabrastan’

VASCO
Muslim leader Ayas Shaikh said heads and committees of Masjids and Railway officials would convene another meeting with Vasco MLA Krishna (Daji) Salkar to resolve the issue.

“We are not against development but we have requested the Railways to safeguard our Kabrastan and also a Hindu temple in the area, so that there is no religious unrest and we have agreed to cooperate with the Railways as well," said Shaikh.

"The Kabrastan has been here for over 150 years and the Railways have agreed to come to an amicable solution wherein, they have their retaining wall and restore the Kabrastan to its earlier condition.”

“There was a large number of people and all of them began interacting with Railways officials. We decided to nominate around 10 persons who will meet with around 5 officials of the Railways, who will bring in their plans. We will discuss the matter in the presence of Salkar and work out a solution in our next meeting,” said Shaikh.
