Rane suggests lifestyle issues behind strokes in young

PANAJI

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Friday seemed to suggest that lifestyle issues were behind the trend of younger people suffer hypertension and eventually strokes.

In a video he posted after what he said a meeting of senior doctors of the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Rane proposed a 'holistic healthcare' module to tackle the phenomenon.

"Health Ministry, Government of Goa is working towards providing a continuum of care from early detection to control of hypertension and improving quality of care," Rane said.

"A lot of Goans between the age of 25 and 35, come to the GMC with bleeds. I tried to find out why so many youngsters in Goa suffer strokes. Doctors have told me it's because of lifestyle," Rane said, adding that many detected with hypertension issues early ignore them and do not take care.
