Goa CGST beat Goa Customs 5-1 in a friendly football exhibition match organised to commemorate International Customs Day at Don Bosco ground on January 25.
Goa CGST scored the first goal when Frankie Mascarenhas scored off a pass from Harshad Gadekar off a counter move in the 20th minute. Goa Customs equalised in the 25th minute when Charles Miranda dribbled past two defenders and scored a beautiful goal to make it 1-1. Ashrafali Makandar made it 2-1 for Goa CGST just before halftime.
Ten minutes into the second half, Goa CGST captain Frankie Mascarenhas scored a beautiful goal past Customs goalkeeper Ceasar Machado, 3-1. Goa CGST defender Sourabh Patil then scored a splendid goal, dribbling from the centre to make it 4-1. Just two minutes before the final whistle, Frankie Mascarenhas completed his hat-trick, 5-1.
The Goa Customs Commissioner Navraj Goel and the Goa CGST Commissioner Soundarajan were present for the match. Bruno Couthino, the former Indian footballer, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up along with the guest of honour Juliet Fernandes, assistant commissioner of Customs.
Individual prizes: Best goalkeeper - Bhanu Pratap Singh of Goa CGST, Best defender “ Sourabh Patil of Goa CGST, Best midfielder - Charles Miranda of Goa Customs, Best forward - Frankie Mascarenhas of Goa CGST.
