An-all round brilliant performance by powerhouse Vidarbha inflicted a nine-wicket defeat on Goa in their penultimate 'D' Group fixture in the Senior Women's One-day Trophy at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati on Friday.
Electing to bat first, Goa were bundled out for 70 in 32.4 overs. Shreya Parab and captain Sunanda Yetrekar were the only batters to reach double digits, both making 13. In the Vidarbha attack, left-arm medium fast Komal Zanzad (3-8) and right-arm medium Kanchan Nagwani (3-9) stole the show.
In reply, Vidarbha lost an early wicket of Shivani Dharne who was cleaned up by right-arm off-break Poorva Bhaidkar without a run on the board. The other opener, Vaishnavi Khandkar on 34 (44b, 6x4) with her skipper Disha Kasat on 37 (49b, 8x4) with an unseparated second-wicket 71-run association cruised to victory with 25 deliveries to spare.
Goa coach Sarvesh Naik, speaking to The Goan after the match, admitted the team had a poor game. "We have failed to bat well in the last few games and this was our worst batting display," the coach stated.
Goa play Bihar for pride in their last 'D' Group fixture at Amingaon Cricket Ground, Guwahati on Sunday.
