Sesa Football Academy registered a 2-1 win over Vasco Sports Club in the GFA Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
The match was goalless at the break. In the second half, Sesa substitute Clencio Pinto, who had come on at the start of the session, played a crucial role in the team's first goal. After getting the ball, Clencio cut past a couple of rival defenders and played a square pass to Velroy Vardozo, who scored past the keeper to make it 1-0.
At the other end, Vasco had a rare chance when Cavin Lobo made a fine run on the left and set up Ashley Fernandes, who made a run into the box but his low effort was brilliantly saved by Sesa custodian Roanal. In the 78th minute, Omkar Shetgaonkar scored Sesa's second goal when he capitalised on a good ball, guiding it into the net after the Vasco keeper charged at the Sesa player. In the 90th minute, Sesa's Clencio's shot was saved by the keeper.
In the seventh minute of stoppage time, Vasco scored a stunning goal from a corner, possibly being a contender for the goal of the season. Cavin Lobo's flag-kick was brilliantly connected by Altamash Sayed, who volleyed home from the edge of the box. The ball hit Sesa player Roham Kamble on the goal-line but the power was too much to see the ball being blocked.
