The Goa Cabinet on Wednesday approved the implementation of the “Anywhere Registration” system under the Indian Registration Act as applicable to Goa, allowing citizens to register property documents at any sub‑registrar office within the district, irrespective of where the property is located.
The decision will be applicable to all three districts – North Goa, South Goa and Kushawati – and will make the process of registration simpler and more convenient for the public.
Sale deeds, mortgage agreements and other property documents will now be permitted to be registered at any office in the concerned district, instead of only the specific taluka where the property is located. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced the decision after a Cabinet meeting at Porvorim.
He said the reform will ease procedures and reduce delays for citizens. Meanwhile in other decisions, the Cabinet also cleared several other measures, including one to hike emoluments of cardiologists hired on contract at the Goa Medical College (GMC) based on the seniority criteria of the doctors.
In yet another decision, the Cabinet approved the transfer of 15,000 square metres of land belonging to the Directorate of Transport in Ponda to the Central Government for the purpose if setting up a centre for the benefit of persons with disabilities.
The Composite Regional Centre (CRC) will have a focus on skill development, rehabilitation and empowerment of persons with disabilities, including specialised rehabilitation and support services. Another decision approved a one‑time settlement (OTS) scheme under the Goa State Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation, waiving interest on loans given under the Ashray Aadhar scheme. Around 175 beneficiaries will gain from the relief, Sawant said, adding that an amendment to The Goa Juvenile Justice Act was also cleared, to adhere to guidelines issued by the Supreme Court.
Sawant further said the government has sought details of contract workers from departments, as part of its plan to regularise their services.
