North Goa Lok Sabha candidate from the Congress Party, Ramakant Khalap, emphasised the foundational principles of the Indian Constitution, highlighting its commitment to justice for all citizens irrespective of their religious affiliations.

He underscored India's sovereignty and socialist ethos, urging voters to see him as a representative of their own interests.

Reflecting on his past contributions, Khalap recalled advocating for special initiatives to empower women during his tenure as MP in 1996.

He credited the Congress Party, particularly the leadership of Rajiv Gandhi, for championing the 73rd amendment, which paved the way for one-third political reservation for women across various tiers of governance.

Notably, he expressed dismay at the recent appropriation of credit for this initiative by the current government.

Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira, serving as the coordinator for the North Goa Lok Sabha seat, outlined the Congress Party's electoral promises, including financial support for women from marginalised backgrounds, agricultural loan waivers, and enhancements to minimum support prices for produce.

He highlighted the party's commitment to healthcare, employment generation, and the protection of workers' rights, referencing flagship schemes like MNREGA.

Addressing the BJP's electoral rhetoric, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar accused the ruling party of misleading the public, challenging them to engage in a substantive debate on critical issues such as the recovery of black money, rising gas cylinder prices, and escalating unemployment rates.

Former State Congress President Girish Chodankar shed light on the circumstances surrounding defections from the Congress to the BJP, alleging inducements of significant monetary incentives.
