The INDIA bloc's Congress candidate for North Goa, Ramakant Khalap hit out at Power Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavlikar demanding his resignation, taking moral responsibility following the incident in Bicholim where a linesman Manoj Zambaulikar died of electrocution while on duty.

Quoting figures provided by Dhavlikar himself in the Goa legislative assembly, Khalap raised the question as to why such deaths of electricity department staff continue to occur despite Rs 12,000 crore having been spent to revamp the State's power infrastructure over the last five years.

Khalap took to the microblogging site 'X' to call for Dhavlikar's resignation over Zambaulikar's death in Bicholim on Friday. "Shocked & saddened to hear unfortunate death of @GoaElectricity staff Manoj Zambaulikar due to electrocution while on duty. Almost 71 Humans & 30 Animals died between 2019 to 2024 due to electrocution. Power Minister @SudinDhavalikar must resign now taking moral responsibility," Khalap wrote on his 'X' handle.
