Why did Ubaldo’s insistence of carrying out the embalming ofRita’s body and doing the funeral hurriedly not raise suspicion?
On February 8 last year, Rita’s brother Caetano hadcomplained to Anjuna Police about Ubaldo hitting Rita. Why did the police nottreat him as accused and call the undertaker and Dr Henriques as per hisinstructions?

Why did she destroy this report immediately? This almostconfirms that her report was false. Who forced her to write a false report?
Why did the police give back the report and question herrather than take down her statement?
Dr Jawahar Henriques? Again?
He runs a rehabilitation center for drug addicts but DrJawahar Lal Henriques’ name has been cropping up with alarming regularity in suspiciousdeaths that happen in and around Anjuna.
Dr Henriques who had turned up to embalm Rita’s body for thefuneral has been under constant watch by police. But as this case has shown, hehas “friends” in uniform and he is friends with the uniformed. His name has inrecent times featured in cases such as British woman Denyse Sweeney’s death as wellas Russian Yury Nikolaevich Vergiles’ death under mysterious circumstances at hisSt Anthony’s Hospital.
GMC’s Head of Forensic Medicine Dr Silvano Dias Sapeco hassaid about Jawaharlal Henriques that “every time his opinion on many patients istaken as pinch of salt and referred as a medico legal case”. In this case too,his role is under scrutiny.

It is a clear case of asthma attack. Nothing indicates thatit is a murder.

We have registered it as a case of unnatural death as localsand her brother suspect it as murder. The body has been sent to morgue.

It is a case of murder. Post Mortem Report found gunshotwounds and a bullet in deceased’s body. We have arrested accused Ubaldo.

A case of unnatural death has been registered; it issuspected that she was suffering from asthma and thus its asthma attack as thereis no injury to the dead body. The body has been sent for post mortem becauseneighbours are insisting

Apparently at the time of panchanama, police witnessed noinjury but minor abrasions were seen on the body however soon after the autopsyreport revealed that the cause of death was a gun shot. Police booked a caseunder section 302 of IPC against Ubaldo Fernandes for the same. However, he hasnot yet confessed.

Police is verifying all aspects of the murder case. The onlyissue in this case was the case was reported late to us when all preparation ofthe final rites was done. (This is anuntruth since we know that the police has reached the spot immediately after thedeath)
