Aadhar Card must for all applicants to avail govt schemes

Come 2013 all those who avail State government schemes willhave to have Adhar cards.

The State government plans to route all government benefitsthrough the Adhar cards from 2013 onwards.

The State government will compile a negative list of allthose people who are enrolled in different schemes to keep a check on thebeneficiaries. The drive will begin from March onwards.

The government will also design a website where individualswill be able to check the status of their Adhar cards, Chief Minister ManoharParrikar said.

The chief minister disclosed that recently he met Nandan Nilekani,Chairman of UIDAI, where he informed that Goa has already crossed 70% in termsof enrollment for the Adhar card and by November it would cross 80%.

“From April 2013 all schemes like DSSS, Ladli Laxmi, andunemployment allowance will be routed through the Adhar card,” Parrikar said.

All updating will be carried out with the help of the UDAIsystem, as it contains data which can save the government around 20 crores, thechief minster added.

“We will appoint youth who would be handed hand-heldequipments. These youth will move from door to door to verify data of allbeneficiaries and will transfer amount to the beneficiary account directly,”Parrikar said.
