The Anti-Corruption Bureau has been dragging its feet inpursuing a complaint against the daughter of former Sports Minister BabuAzgaonkar, who allegedly was offered a government posting by bendingrecruitment rules.
Even after three months the ACB is still carrying out preliminaryinquiry in the former sports minister daughter’s appointment, as a juniorscientific officer (nutritiondietician) in Sports Authority of Goa (SAG).
There has been no investigation and no statements have been recordedin the case according to information furnished through RTI application.
A complaint against Meeta Azgaonkar the daughter of formerspots minister was filed by social activist Sudip Tamankar. “I have attachedall the necessary documents I have received through RTI along with the complaintcopy. ACB has to only investigate into it,” Tamankar said.
It has been alleged that Meeta Azgaonkar got the appointment onApril 12, 2011 in SAG in a fraudulent manner when her father was the ministerfor sports in Congress government. The appointment was subsequently modifiedand her salary increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 42,000 on April 28, 2011. It isalleged that all the recruitment rules for the said post were violated on influence.
However Azgaonkar then and now maintains that his daughtergot the job on merit.
“My candidature was rejected in spite of me being a dieticianin GMC and having an experience of 10 years. The former sports minister’sdaughter was selected despite having no experience,” said Sohini Mahajan whohad applied for the same post.
