The Panjim municipality will urge the state government toform a committee headed by a IAS officer to conduct an inquiry into the marketscam and submit its report within three month. Another fraud valued at 6.87 lakhs will be handed over toVigilance.
On Thursday, a meeting was held at CCP during which aresolution was passed demanding that the scams needed to be investigated onmerit. Initially all councilors demandedthat Commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues should inquire into the scam but he refused.
“The market scam is a very huge, I would not like to takeadditional work. It should be investigated by an independent committee asserious illegalities have occurred in the said scam” said CCP CommissionerSanjit Rodrigues
While Kabir Makhija Pinto felt that all fresh councilor whowere elected this election should be completely kept out and not be involved atall. Meanwhile CCP has accepted 147 applications of shop owners who havealready paid Rs. 44 lakhs as fees including transfer fee but a decision is yetto be taken.
CCP also passed a resolution hiking film shooting fees to50,000 per day and also hiked exhibition charges from Rs 20 per sqmt to Rs 50per sq mts.
