There is no financial crisis in the state even though theban on mining has had an impact on revenue generation, Chief Minister, ManoharParrikar said.
He said the government was taking all possible steps togenerate revenue from various other sources.
“The revenue growth in the State is to the tune of 3 percenteven though mining contributed 20 percent of the state’s GDP. This shows thatthere is no crisis in the State,” the chief minister said.
Addressing media persons after a cabinet meet on Wednesday,the chief minister informed that the state government has instructed mining companiesnot to lay out permanent workers, as government was working out some mechanismto provide relief to the people dependent on mining activities, mainly thetruck operators and other allied work force.
The government has decided to tighten security during thenights and accordingly any person found roaming on streets at odd hours willhave to prove his identity. “Any person found loitering beyond specified hourswill face tough action,” the chief minister said.
The state government will also take tough action againstthose who indulge in illegal activities at public places including smoking,begging, urinating etc the chief minister said.
“In order to curb the rise in road mishaps the police havebeen asked to deal seriously with those who indulge in drunken driving,”Parrikar said.
The state cabinet has approved the gross cost for Tillariproject and decided to share the burden of 73 percent of the total projectcost, which has shot up to Rs 1,612 crore, the CM informed.
He said the government also took a decision to hike thesalaries of PWD society workers from June 2011 onwards.
The government has decided to form a task force under thechief minister to tackle the plastic garbage menace in the state.
