Dussehra, the day of triumph of good over evil had a mobile text message getting viral. Even Political Patrao got one that said “Goa government to make travel for the disabled and journalists free on Kadamba buses.” Though the tongue-in-cheek message may have gone unnoticed, PP wonders if the State’s journalists are differently-abled. Or is that medical science finds journalistically enabled as a disability.
Cake-walk for Caitu
Birthday celebrations in Salcete is one big party. Don’tbelieve us? Ask Mickky. But this time it was his colleague, Benaulim MLA, CaituSilva’s birthday bash. Caitu’s Portuguese nationality issue may have kept (orrather delayed?) Mickky away but it was interesting to note how everybody wantsto keep the new boy from Benaulim in good spirit. First came in Parrikar who drovehim in a vintage car all the way to Benaulim beach to woo the shack owners.BJP’s top brass Francis D'Souza and Laxmikant Parsekar followed soon. PPwonders whether Caitu is planning a switchover to BJP. Who knows, the saffronparty may need his support as some of their own are planning to pull the plugon the government. But the best was leftfor the last. Late in the evening just when Caitu’s supporters were settlingdown to the fact that Mickky wouldn’t turn up, Mickky walked in. But craftyCaitu had other plans. Much to his supporters’ surprise, Caitu waited for thetwo independent MLAs, Avertano and Benjamin to cut his birthday cake givingMickky a taste of his own medicine.
Diwali dhamaka for Diggu?
Even as Goa’s mining pitch gets deafening, the man whoeveryone would love to hear for bringing the State to the brink is busy buyingsome prime land and mines from the Margao-based Lotlikar family through brokerR K Developers. The grapevine told Polticial Patrao that Digu’s big dealincludes mines, ancestral property and the building housing Madgaum Cafe nearMargao - Navelim flyover. The Rs 645 crore deal at the moment is going througha minor hiccup with a signatory from Mumbai refusing to sign on the dottedline. But then the Margao man has sailed through more turbulent waters and thisdeal seems done too.
The only man who loves Ambedkar
Vasco might have voted him out but there is no beatingformer Revenue Minister Jose Filip D’Souza’s ingenuity. On Dussehra day, whileall politicians might have been praying to the Gods-Goddesses or enjoying amid-week holiday, Jose Philip was up on the podium garlanding BhimraoAmbedkar’s life size statue at Chicalim Junction. When Political Patraoenquired whether what was special, his group of supporters reminded that thiswas the day when Ambedkar professed his faith in Buddhism. Political breed mayforget the importance of the Father of Indian Constitution but Jose Philip isthe only one who has not forgotten him whether in power or out of it.
