A new businessman, used to the usual ways of politics (or business)met the Chief Minister recently to discuss a project. At the end of it he politelyoffered ‘Sir I will contribute to your party”. Hearing this Parrikar smiled andpointing to the portrait of Shivaji behind his chair said “I may not get angrybut beware of Shivaji Maharaj. He gets furious when he hears this and I am notresponsible for the consequences”. The businessman quickly got up and left.

If youthought that Goa Police is susegad and at times abusive, think again. TheDepartment recently launched a drive to check the level of securitypreparedness in the state. The drive involved senior police inspectors from onestation area landing in another station area. The ‘constructive’ drive involvedcalling seniors to the station if cops were caught sleeping or out of work. Azealous officer who caught two people drinking on Miramar beach late one nightasked the people to go home. The duo immediately called up his senior citingthat they were inconvenienced. “MaasoSusegad re…check other places” crooned the senior. Mr Zealous officerwondered ‘so much for the security drive.’ Up ahead when he caught up with aposse of drunk young women outside a pub overlooking Rua de Ourem, the senioragain surfaced on the mobile “MaasoSusegad re…check other places”. So much for the drive.
