Chief minister Manohar Parrikar said that police officerswill be suspended if they are found not taking action against the use or saleof the narcotic in the Sunburn music festival which is scheduled this monthfrom 27 to 29.
The chief minister, when he was leader of opposition, hadcriticised then Congress-led government for allowing drugs to be sold duringthe Sunburn festival.
Parrikar also said that the CCTV cameras installed tomonitor moment of the participants of the festival would be under controlled bypolice. “Police might not man it; but whenever we ask for the footage, theorganizers will have to give the access,” he said.
Sunburn has been given permission in principle, he said,adding that the state government’s committee will give formal approval to itafter going through the guidelines.
Earlier on Saturday, the chief minister had announced thatthe event would be made smoke-free. He had said that it will be completelysmoke-free and also narcotics free.
