The road construction at the junction of the Western bypass and the Khareband-Varca road never seems to end; it has been like this for the past four years, blocking passage to Benaulim and beyond. No one seems to know what the problem is ” is it the raised culvert, the sinking road, or some other issue? Questions to the PWD elicit no response.
Furthermore, the lack of illuminated hazard signage at the site poses a danger to vehicle users coming from the Varca side who are unaware that the road ahead is blocked. Mounds of earth, concrete, drums, shuttering material, aggregates, etc., are scattered around the area, making it more dangerous and accident-prone. It does seem that the road will be thrown open to traffic only in Amritkaal 2047.
