Good news, finally the inevitable has happened. If you are affected with gangrene, amputation is required to be done. This is the story of Air India, brought to its pathetic condition by mismanagement and political interference in the functioning of its affairs. 

When nobody wanted to touch Air India with a bargepole, the Tatas have come to the rescue to buy the relic. Crores of rupees in public money has gone down the drain and it is time to halt this. Jitendra Bhargava's book on Air India-The Descent of Air India,  chronicles the systematic decline and the reasons for the downfall. 

Only time will tell whether the Tatas will finally succeed in bringing a turn around in the affairs of the airline. The happy news is that the common man will not have to pay for the white elephant as it always happens in the country.
