Scams galore and our state is bearing the brunt, most recent reports in daily news papers that a scam has occurred with regard to the gas quantities in cylinders. It has been detected that cooking gas cylinders are not being filled to the optimum standard levels and it is learnt around 3-5 kgs less gas on an average is filled in each cylinder. This malpractice originates and should be traced at the source in filling stations of gas companies. Government should get to the bottom of this malaise and initiate measures to detect and put a halt to it immediately. Alternatively the Government must consider a central supply system of cooking gas through pipe lines with flow and consumption meters installed in each and every household on trial basis. Hazards like gas leaks and cylinder explosions will be a thing of the past. Many states and countries are preferring this mode of supply which is more cost effective, efficient and convenient way. This will curtail pilferage of gas from cylinders and set things right. The price of gas has reached epic proportions and people won't be able to tolerate and bear the prospect of such pilferages.
