There has been lately talk of Sanatan Dharma. Simply put the meaning is ancient religions. Those that qualify as Sanatan Dharma are Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and the Jewish faith. Others like Christianity and the Islamic faith are later entrants. For those that want to impute meanings into the words Sanatan Dharma are those that have from time immemorial tried to layer the cloaks of rituals, customs, beliefs that suits their selfish purpose to conduct their livelihoods like in ancient times and now to serve narrow vested interests. We need to discard this layering since our Gods never asked their devotees to perform any rituals or practices and it is men who created these customs. Thus there is not much need to give undue importance to Sanatan Dharma. If any political parties want to derive any benefit from it then it is best to ignore it since as is best said - God forgive them for they do not know what they do.
