The alliance has been announced along with the soundbytes, group pictures of new members and other optics. But can MGP-TMC deliver the goods to an increasingly hapless Goan? The MGP is a party that lost its gravitas ages ago and is a far cry from its heydays during the days of the Bandodkars.
With TMC taking baby steps in the state, it may likely totter and be helpless itself. As the days to the 2022 elections get nearer, no viable alternative has come together to take on the ruling dispensation that is wracked by shame and scandal. In a state where victory margins are thin, it is important that all eligible voters exercise their franchise. Not voting will only give us more of the same. As for the TMC, will it be a case of so much media carpet bombing and colourful handbills in the papers and nothing finally to show for it? Or will its end result be like the book by Douglas Adams goes: So long and thanks for all the fish!
