Fire hydrants at Sonsodo need of the hour

It is learnt that the Margao fire brigade rushed to Sonsoddo again on Saturday as the waste treatment plant was engulfed by fire in the evening.

According to the fire brigade personnel they have been receiving calls almost every alternate day to extinguish the fire inside the plant. It is understood that the water pump and the hose pipes need urgent repairs.

The build-up of the Methane gas at the waste treatment plant could be the prime reason for the frequent fire incidents at the site. The fire can produce air pollution in the vicinity due to the release of obnoxious gases.

It is pertinent to note that it is mandatory to provide fire hydrants at the market place and other crowded areas where the possibility of a fire incident is high.

Fire hydrants at Sonsoddo will go a long way in providing the fire-fighters a much easier way to douse the fire.
