Covid tsunami has hit the country with positive cases and deaths increasing by the day. Goa is no exception and our chief minister and his administration is solely to be blamed.
From deficiency of vaccines, oxygen, hospital beds, frontline workers like doctors and nurses Goa was definitely not prepared to face this crisis.
A walk through the South Goa district hospital I saw patients on the floor -- some on makeshift beds while others bought their own mattresses.
It was a pitiful sight to witness as this gigantic facility meant to cater to the needs of our people was found wanting. It reflects the poor workmanship on the part of the authorities and lack of preparedness to deal with such a crisis.
The sheer negligence on the part of the authorities is deplorable to say the least. Collective responsibility rests with the health ministry to see that such failures do not occur in future.
The government and also citizens must now render all possible help to alleviate the sufferings of patients on a war footing so that precious lives can be saved.
