Everyone believes that Goa's tourism is the backbone of economy, without which taking up developmental projects would be impossible. Unfortunately many of the touristic activities which are going on now, have no legal sanction and have been gradually growing in the wrong direction causing all kinds of problems with disastrous consequences. These activities involving vice and rave culture not only attract outsiders but also a large number of Goans too. The present prevailing scenario related to beach tourism that authorities are promoting aggressively has started portraying their negative and dangerous outcome and that's what makes the whole situation very scary. It seems that a strong and firm action from the part of the authorities and police is not forthcoming in curbing many of the illicit activities which may ruin the quality of tourism in Goa. There's still a very slim chance that Goa maybe be rescued on account of several terrible incidents that are coming to light every now and then because of the media publicity and NGOs protests that have awakened the authorities, but the firm and decisive action should start right away.
