Govt must be prepared to tackle Delta variant

The CDC has declared the Delta Sars CoV 2 as being more contagious than chicken pox. Further it is infecting vaccinated people at a faster rate. Positive cases in Kerala are once again rising. What must be done? The Goa government has sent just 125 samples for finding out if the same are from the Delta variant. No feedback. With the current low positive cases, all samples must be tested for the variant. Contact tracing must be done on a war footing. A third booster dose, with preferably another vaccine based on trials that the same would be more effective against the Delta variant must be executed.

I have seen people who religiously don the mask as soon as they step outside. But inside rooms where they interact with colleagues, they instantly drop the same. The poorly ventilated interiors and proximity of occupants are more conducive to transmissions. Till date, the Govt. has not addressed ventilation: critical in transmission of airborne disease especially the Delta variant. Sadly, private doctors are once again ignoring the available data and rooting for offline classes when student themselves have not been vaccinated.
