Apropos to the report "After sex scandal, Congress throws bribe bomb at BJP" (The Goan Everyday December 9, 2021). If the Congress in Goa is deluding itself into believing that "Sopte tax" will revive its fortune in the upcoming assembly elections in Goa, it will be in for a big surprise. Goa Congress's steadfast refusal in reading the writing on the wall is proving to be a major handicap in its lacklustre preparations ahead of crucial assembly elections in 2022. What do the people of Goa want? Does Congress have any formidable plans to improve the lives of average Goans if voted to power in next elections?
How will Congress be different in governing Goa if elected to power in 2022? Why is the Congress wasting time in sting operations and levelling baseless accusations at the ruling party that is threatening to swallow entire Goa Congress? Congress must look within and prepare a strategy to fight its major opponent on important and relevant issues close to the heart of Goans. These half-baked accusations cannot win Congress elections in Goa. The party leaders must hit the ground running. Or else, it will be too late.
