It is learnt that the fact that the Congress in Goa is a divided lot was on full display during a series of block Congress meetings held in the state. It is shocking to note that neither the state Congress President nor the leader of the Opposition was present at the meeting which was attended by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary-in-charge of the Goa desk in order to strengthen the party organization. Such a situation is unthinkable when a central leadership of any other national party visits the state. It is learnt that several members of a particular Block Congress Committee have voiced dissatisfaction and called for change of party leadership in the state. With all this internal party bickering coming out in the open, one wonders whether it is Congress versus Congress in Goa. There are numerous Goans who would like to see a change in power after the 2027 elections and were looking up to the Congress party to be a viable alternative. The Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections scheduled for December will be a litmus test for the Congress party before the 2027 elections.
