Kannada Bhavan in Goa is not need of the hour

Karnataka chief minister Basvaraj  Bommai has written letter to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant requesting 2 to 3 acres of land for Kannada Bhavan. It's quite natural that after Mhadei river now it's time to grab land as both are natural resources of Goa and since no much defence was shown in Mhadei river now they think land can be asked for. Goa has been a close associate with Karnataka as many Kannadigas are settled in Goa and speak Konkani also. The chief minister claims that goverment of Karnataka granted Rs 3 crores for promotion of Konkani in their state. The Goa government has no provision for its own language and how can we make provision for land that's the question. There is no land for Goa's own infrastructure development and if any land is marked for that then there is agitation among the villagers. The  government of Goa has built  Ravindra Bhavan in various cities like Margao, Vasco, Sanquelim and Rajiv Kala Mandir at Ponda. The same can be utilised by them and be given once in a month for promoting their  art and culture. Kannada Bhavan in Goa to promote Kannada is not a need of hour. Many Kannada people  have bought land in Goa and they can utilise this for their own purpose. Asking State government to provide land for their benefit is not a priority. The government can always promote their culture by giving them a space in existing Ravindra Bhavan for their language. In Karnataka mostly Karwar district and Managaluru city speak Konkani and so in order to promote Kannada language the state should think seriously as the people of Goa will not agree to such proposals. Much can be done with existing infrastructure available for art and culture with exchange programmes in the State.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai has reportedly requested our CM Pramod Sawant to provide a minimum of one or two acres of government land for the construction of Kannada Bhavan in Goa.Unfortunately, CM Sawant who is otherwise well-known for poking his nose in every single matter in the state has still not bothered to issue a single statement or has dared to say a big 'no' for such a demand of Karnataka CM in Goa. Just because we Goans are getting electricity,…
