Mapusa police have reportedly cracked theft cases involving breaking the dickey of scooters in crowded markets and arrested three persons who allegedly robbed a gold chain worth Rs 2 lakh from the dickey of a scooter more than a month back. The police need to be complimented for cracking the case despite it taking place a couple of months back. Thieves now seem to be targeting the dickey of scooters to rob the unwary citizens. The fact that the theft took place in a crowded marketplace only goes to prove that the thieves are well prepared in carrying out such thefts. It must be said that it is not a very difficult task to open the dickey of a scooter. People withdrawing money from the bank could be placing it in a bag in the dickey and parking it in the parking lot or crowded places. Lady riders usually keep their bags in the scooter dickey. Citizens should be aware of this trend of committing theft and should not keep any cash or valuables in the dickey. It is not safe to keep cash and valuables in the scooter dickey even if it is parked in crowded places.
