We often feel that villages are better than cities and life is cool and calm in villages. Many people also leave the hectic city life and move to villages for a clean and green environment.
But of late villages are no more what they used to be and are turning into concrete jungles with crimes increasing by the day.
Crimes are not limited to only small thefts or burglaries but there is rampant destruction of environment with illegal constructions, tree cutting and human trafficking, drugs, smuggling deals etc.
The men in uniform normally do not visit remote villages and this gives rise to illegalities. Matka gambling, card games and abuse of alcohol is also rampant in several shops and go unnoticed with many unemployed youth falling prey to these vices. The elected panch members and the beat police officials also turn a blind eye to such illegalities.
It is time the authorities wake up to the situation prevailing in our villages and bring back our village life of yesteryears before it is too late.
