Milagres feast: Good example set by church

The parish priest of Mapusa church Fr Deniz Fernandes and the Parish Pastoral Council needs to be congratulated for cancelling the public celebration of Milagres Saibinn feast for the second successive year due to rising number of Covid cases. The decision will also apply to the fair which is usually set up on the streets outside the church.

Milagres feast is very popular and devotees come from far and near to participate in the event and venerate our Saibinn. It is a great sacrifice on the part of Mapusa parashioners and all devotees to deprive themselves of the physical participation in the religious service and event.

Considering the huge celebrations of Kumbh Mela and Ugadi festival held in India last week, where all norms and SOPs were flouted, Goa sets a fine example of discipline, sacrifice, cooperation and observation of safety norms through the devotees of Milagres Saibinn. May such spirit and sacrifice continue to prevail.
