Finally, sensible thinking came from none other than State BJP president Sadanand Tanavade who reportedly suggested that the State must make Covid-19 negative certificates mandatory for any person entering Goa.
One wonders why he delayed speaking up for so long. Had he spoken earlier, he could have prevented the State from sliding down the Covid graph. Had he spoken earlier he could have prevented a lot of suffering and at least some deaths.
Already more than 12 States have made Covid negative certificates mandatory for travel and imposed various levels of control on activities. The reluctance to go in for a lockdown is understandable as it hurts the weaker sections.
We can only hope and pray that enlightenment now dawns earlier than late, in the minds of the decision makers, as has been suggested by none other than the State president of BJP.
