People will lose faith in police if tainted PSI is not punished

It was indeed a dark day for Goa Police when the suspended PSI at Margao police station, Stanley Gomes, registered a malicious and false FIR against Edwin Coelho as a tactic to instill fear in the victim and do a compromise. It’s a shame that our newly appointed DGP and Margao superintendent of police allowed this blackmailing exercise to go ahead. The victim deserved an apology from the Goa police and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, but, instead, he has been slapped with a false FIR. The suspended PSI needs to be arrested immediately and dismissed from service. At the cost of taxpayers’ money, he is resorting to goondagiri with innocent citizens. What a low for democracy and the State police system. Justice will only prevail when this PSI is dismissed from service and sent to Colvale jail. The police need to know that people’s power will prevail even if they resort to blackmailing the victim. People will lose trust in the police if they protect this tainted cop. Hope our DGP will give speedy justice before the courts do.
