Police nakabandi a farce at Colva

This refers to the horrific gang violence on the busy Colva“Margao road early Tuesday, 12th August, where about 15 armed assailants in multiple cars ambushed a targeted vehicle. Using pistols, swords, iron rods, and glass bottles, they nearly killed two victims.

The next day, Police conducted a nakabandi near Green House, Colva”apparently in response. But what purpose does this serve after the violence is over? Was it genuine policing or merely a show to create an illusion of action? This question must be asked of Goa’s Chief and Home Minister.

Many culprits were already known to the Police, and warnings” including from Benaulim MLA”were given about their violent intentions. Why was nothing done to prevent it? What action will the Home Minister take against this failure?

A Club in Colva, allegedly linked to multiple violent incidents and even this case, reportedly operates without proper permissions. Ministers must direct Goa Police and Panchayat authorities to verify its legality and act on violations.

Goa needs firm, preventive measures”not pointless, cosmetic nakabandis”to tackle such violence.
