The five-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival at Adpai village in Ponda gains great significance. However, while the festival was being celebrated this year, some civic problems remained unattended to and residents as well as visitors faced great inconvenience. For instance, tap water was unavailable during daytime. Residents received water only in early morning and night time. Besides, stray cattle were on the roads causing nuisance to pedestrians and travellers alike. Potholes over the road, especially at Tariwada-Adpai caused great hardships for two-wheeler riders. Further, necessary maintenance work pertaining to streetlights was not undertaken by the electricity department.
It was also disturbing to note private cars being parked along the narrow roads thereby preventing smooth flow of vehicular traffic. Last and not the least, many people, especially youths were found moving around without face masks. The local MLA Sudin Dhavalikar needs to get acquainted with above problems in this village and initiate prompt steps to overcome the same at once on priority basis. People need to receive necessary relief at all cost.
