Will the Goa Electricity Department please tell us why hardly a day passes in Goa without a few power outages, even in in these fair-weather months, when there is neither rain nor heavy winds to cause disruption to the power lines, and the use of fans and air conditioners during these winter months is also minimum. People like me who have lived most of their life in erstwhile Bombay (now Mumbai), can hardly recollect any occurrence of power outages or power breakdowns, except once in a blue moon. Also, monthly area-wise power shutdowns for maintenance, as carried out in Goa, was something unheard of---the same with voltage stabilisers and inverters. It is a very sad state of affairs in this tiny state of Goa that even after 6 decades and promises by successive state governments, the situation remains unchanged. Yet, some political parties have promised uninterrupted power supply in Goa in their recent election manifestos, if voted to power. Who are we trying to hoodwink?
