Currently the COP27 is in progress with about 197 countries in conference to tackle the most urgent threat facing the world i.e climate change to which we are already seeing devastating destruction around the world! But I am very pessimistic in putting our hope in the global leaders of today; starting with the power obsessed Russian dictatorship whose war they say is to "Save Russia". The powerful western democracies have their politicians in the pockets of the fossil fuel lobbies and the same is the case in India, where the ruling govt is allowing few corporations to devastate the environment to increase their profits. Like for example the 3 linear projects planned to devastate Goa by destroying villages, water bodies, wild life sanctuaries, etc to facilitate a coal corridor for select corporates.
And what's worse is the gimmicks that politicians do in the name of addressing global warming, take for example Goa CM Pramod Sawant signing MOUs to Save the Soil while at the same time allowing sewage to destroy agricultural land. I think it is only pressure from ordinary citizens on these corrupt politicians that can give us a chance to save the planet.
