Thanks to media coverage, the news spread quickly, enabling the police to track down the culprit. However, before the arrest, the car owner had a responsibility to inform the authorities that his vehicle was being used by a young friend.
We wish the injured teacher a speedy recovery, as her students will be eagerly waiting for her return to school. The police must now take strict action against the young driver, who not only fled the scene but also failed to report the accident and did not provide medical assistance to the victim. We are grateful to the good samaritan who stepped in to help promptly. I have repeatedly urged PWD engineers to ensure that pedestrian crossings are marked on all roads, regardless of their width. Roads are not meant solely for two-wheelers or four-wheelers. They are shared spaces used by the general public, including senior citizens, whose safety must be a top priority for the government. Engineers must not ignore this crucial aspect.
