A one-and-a-half-year-old was attacked by stray dogs in Durbhat, Ponda, leading to her death. The attack by stray dogs on roads is not new. On one hand, Animal Husbandry has declared a vaccination drive for dogs, but on the other hand, there is no safety for children and citizens on the roads.
The one-and-a-half-year-old child had just come out of her house while playing and was attacked by a group of stray dogs, dragged and killed. The government should come out with strong action on stray dogs in villages and cities. We find many stray dogs in the morning and at night on roads attacking or barking after scooter riders, which leads to accidents.
There should be a drive to catch such dogs, and special vans should be deployed to catch and send them to animal shelters away from cities to prevent attacks. The dogs are fed by some animal lovers, and when they don’t get anything, they attack and bite people on roads. It's time to catch such dogs and keep them in animal shelters, where they can be kept with vaccination and not allowed back on the roads. If any NGOs want to feed and take care of them, they should be allowed to do so to prevent attacks.
