Kudos to our Chief Minister for wanting to promote Goa for Wellness Tourism. But unfortunately, CM’s statement is totally misaligned with what the administration is doing in reality!
For Goa to be promoted as Wellness Tourism destination we need a proper 360 plan!
Here are some points that do not sync well with Wellness Tourism.
Garbage and plastic burning in the open by government or contract workers as witnessed in Colva at multiple places including the beach.
Releasing sewage into rivers, creeks, water bodies and no punishment being given to the perpetrators (including concerned minister, government officials and select commercial establishments like hotels and restaurants which also can severely pollute the ground water.
Filthy meat and fish markets, massive areas of rubbish and waste in clear sight, extremely poor monitoring of food quality and hygiene across the State.
Another point is destruction of hills, water-bodies, forests, wildlife sanctuaries etc by destructive projects.
It is high time the government puts a proper plan with its declared ambitious objectives else they will be just all fake talk.
