It has become quite common for private buses, especially the city buses, to make unauthorized halts in order to pick up passengers on the way. These halts are made frequently and within short distances whenever there is a passenger waiting for the bus. The waiting passenger only needs to put out the hand and the bus stops. It is learnt that now even buses belonging to the state owned Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) make unauthorized stops. This can cause inconvenience for the other vehicles following the bus and can also prove dangerous. The passenger trying to board the bus which does not stop completely can have a fall with disastrous consequences. Incidentally the traffic cops do not seem to act against these buses which make unauthorized stops. Buses should be allowed to make a stop only at the bus-stand and the bus-stop and not along the route. The rule that the door of a moving bus needs to be closed is many-a-times not adhered to. The traffic cops need to be strict with bus operators flouting the rules.
