The BJP is losing its sheen among upper castes for multiple reasons like allegedly giving preferences to lower castes in government schemes and disregarding genuine concern of the upper castes. It is common knowledge that the BJP’s victory in the just-concluded assembly elections in the four states was not due to overwhelming support, as claimed by its leaders, but due to the absence of credible opposition that could reflect the aspirations of the disgruntled sections of the society.
