Boost health infra for smart city

The Urban Health Centre located at Panaji on the historic 18th June Road  is till date located in its  pre-liberation heritage building which its small wooden first floor is insufficient to even accommodate its health officer and other para medical staff. The RT-PCR test is being conducted for the last one year on the footpath with people in ever growing queues under the scorching summer sun.

The other wing of this building which consists of a government primary school is the vaccination centre for the last two months which has led to Covid patients for testing landing there by mistake adding to the spread of the virus.

The recently reconstituted Board of Directors of IPSCDL , the government  company for the Panaji Smart City Plan, the newly elected Mayor and the Panaji MLA should consider the citizens of Panaji as their extended family members  who cannot afford costs of private hospitals  and so  immediately allocate funds to enhance the permanent health infrastructure of Panaji for its Urban Health Centre by utilising Asia`s oldest medical college premises at Panaji and Ribandar as the priority task .
