This refers to 'Cable operators move HC to stop wire cutting drive' (TGE, January 18, 2025). Cables hanging from electricity poles and trees are indeed a gory sight. And this is the scene in cities like Mumbai, where all sorts of cables are hanging from anything available in the area, left, right and centre. At some places, mounds of such cables are even strewn all around the place, posing a danger of people tripping and injuring themselves. This only shows the lack of planning. Ideally, civic authorities everywhere should make provisions for setting up ducts through which all cables could be routed.
