The road issue in our village remains unresolved due to poor quality and insufficient maintenance. The stretch from Leo’s Aqua Splash Bar (Cavorim-Covatem) to Hill View Café and Restaurant (Mena-Cavorim) needs urgent hot mixing, as it has been severely damaged by heavy rainfall, creating widespread potholes. This road, previously narrow, has seen increased traffic since the flyover bridge opened. Government Kadamba buses and vehicles from neighbouring villages now use this shortcut, leading to frequent accidents, health hazards, and vehicle damage.
The road’s poor condition is causing significant inconvenience, including punctured tires and frequent vehicle servicing, adding to our financial burden. Additionally, the winding road needs to be addressed to allow smooth traffic flow and ensure pedestrian safety. Potholes on Cotta Road also need attention.
There are also issues with vehicles parked at the turns of Three King’s Circle, which should be addressed with fines and a “No Parking” board. Unfortunately, both the police department and the village panchayat are failing to act, with internal conflicts among panchayat members further complicating matters.
We urgently request a site inspection and prompt action from the concerned authorities to prevent further accidents and ensure road safety. Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, please address this issue and hold the panchayat office accountable, as the street lights are also non-functional, reflecting the careless attitude of government departments.
